There is not much more visually fun out there than a whole bunch of balloons firing up their burner engines and floating up into the clear blue Oregon skies!

Portland-based band, Pacific Latitudes, had a concert this Friday night at the Know. And I was lucky enough to photograph it...

I was invited to the opening of the new AC Hotel in downtown Portland, Oregon. They built it in what was a funny old vacant lot that everyone just used as a shortcut at a busy intersection. Now it's a charming place to stay steps away from the Pioneer Place shopping mall and other downtown attractions. The best part of it for me, hands down, is they have a bunch of local artwork and local food and drinks... 

The Portland Instagram Group held a fun instameet at the Lan Su Chinese Garden , a great little oasis of calm in the hustle-bustle of Old Town Portland. It had been foggy and drizzly all morning, but when we gathered the sun came out and it was lovely.  Here are some unedited snapshots...

In November 2016 Canopy by Hilton flew me to Iceland for the grand opening of their very first hotel, the Reykjavík City Centre. Such a great party, for a wonderful hotel, with great food from the Geiri Smart restaurant and Omnom Chocolate. Plus, I had a good "skál" with the mayor...

Just before Halloween 2016, the Portland Instagram group had a fun little instameet at Fir Point Farms in Aurora, Oregon. Pumpkins were everywhere of course, but so were goats and bunnies and horses and donkeys... plus games like Cornhole and badminton. We feasted on ice cream, donuts, freshly pressed cider. Probably the most fun though was the corn maze -- so beautiful...

We in the Portland Instagram group had an instameet today at the Swan Island Dahlia Festival in Canby, Oregon. There we saw thousands of gorgeous dahlias in the blazing summer sun. 

For the seventh year, about a hundred bicyclists dress in their finest tweed and ride together through downtown Portland, Oregon. It's all in good fun... and good style. Learn more at the Portland Tweed Ride's website.
