Downtown Portland on the first day of summer
Summer has begun in 2024 here in Portland. So I took the day off work and headed downtown with my Leica T (L-mount) rangefinder to grab some snapshots…
Washington, DC, June 2019
We walked miles and miles around the city center from this museum to that, from this fun spot to that. I really enjoyed myself, particularly attracted to and energized by the intellectual vibe in the air, thick like the humidity.
Tacoma Art Museum, June 2019
Checking out the museum’s new Benaroya Wing expansion, which has added exciting new gallery space…
Tacoma Museum of Glass (MoG)
One of the crown jewels of Tacoma, Washington, is its Museum of Glass (MOG) downtown behind the old Union Station…
Tacoma Art Museum (TAM)
In May 2018 Elaine and I visited the Tacoma Art Museum for Travel Tacoma. A great little museum, the TAM, as it's affectionately known, is about to get bigger with a new wing set to open next year…
Museum of Glass, Tacoma
I visited the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, Washington, in June 2017. It not only has exhibits of gorgeous glass art, but it also has a very large glassblowing studio where you can watch world-class artists in residence...
Venice: Gallerie dell'Accademia
During my 2015 trip to Venice, Italy, I made sure to visit one of my favorite spots in town, the Gallerie dell'Accademia. It is full of beautiful art but in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
Tre Oci Gallery, Venice
December 2015 was overflowing with shoots in Venice. One great stop I made was at the Tre Oci Gallery in the Giudecca district. It's a terrific exhibition space that really supports photography (and other visual arts), with shows featuring internationally renown artists alongside local up-and-comers. Really warmed my heart.
The Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Venice
In December 2015, I traveled to Venice, Italy, for a few shoots and a lot of R&R. There was so much to see that there wasn't much I meant to twice; the Peggy Guggenheim Collection on the Grand Canal, however, was such a place. (If I had time, I'd have had a third visit!) Maria Rita Cerilli, their Officer for Press and Social Media, met with us and took us up on their roof, with its fabulous views. Such a terrific little museum, with world-class artists like Picasso and Pollock, in a terrific little setting.
San Francisco, 11/15: Set 2, De Young Museum
In November 2015 I traveled to San Francisco, California, for a couple of shoots, and to attend the An Event Apart conference. On a free morning, I went to Golden Gate park to visit the de Young art museum with its gorgeous copper facade and fun observation deck.
